| Yeah, I know, it's been like a year or something since I posted. Crazy, it's true.
So I'm just sitting here, reading other peep's posts and decided I should update or something.
I'm living in New York now. Not NYC, don't get exicted, but Watertown, NY, which is about 5 hours north west of the city. I like it a lot! I'm the education reporter at the Watertown Daily Times. I know, I know, who would want to give me a job? No one knows.
Either way, I'm really enjoying my job and all of the people here. I've met some good friends and quality people while out on my beat.
I got my own apartment (YAY!) and just put the finishing touches on it. I finally got everything unpacked and put away and have everything just the way I want it.
So, pretty much, I'm having a great time.
I miss my friends :-( and my family (most of the time), but I'm having a good time and really enjoying my independence, so that hopefully I'll be able to move home one day to settle down.
School starts in the North Country (that's what we call it) tomorrow, which officially starts chaos for me. But, I'm really looking forward to it.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone and see what's up. Hope to hear from you guys! | comments: Leave a comment |

| I haven't written in ions, so here's a little ditty to shut you people up...kidding.
I'm doing well. Work and school still. Nothing much has changed. I graduate in May, so I only have one class left so I'm just wrapping that up.
I am now the editor in chief of The Oakland Post. It basically runs my life, but I like it a little bit. It's a lot like glorified babysitting, but it's good experience and it keeps me out of trouble.
Other than that I'm just hanging out. It's good having Alex home, we've been hanging out a lot lately and been getting into our fair share of trouble, but it's all good.
So that's about it.
Take care. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Sorry about the last entry. There was a series of unfortunate events that had happened that day that let me to having a Kelly pity party. Everything (or most everything) is ok now. Things are slowly working themselves out.
I'm going to CHICAGO this weekend!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited! I can't wait. It's just me and Jeff...which will be interesting. It'll be nice to spend my b-day weekend in my favorite place on earth and get a little vacation from Michigan. God knows I need it. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| I really hate updating this thing with anything of any importance because people generally take things the wrong way and then it causes all sorts of drama. But here goes...
Things are going really well right now. The semester is winding down (Thank GOD)!!! I have officially Quit the post! THANK GOD!!!! I really do love it there, but I am SOOO happy with my decision. I feel like for the first time I have a HUGE load off of my shoulders. I'm sure that will only last for the next week or so.
This summer I'm not taking any classes (for once in my life) -- THANK GOD! But I will be working a LOT. I will officially have 3 jobs! NICE. I will be interning at The Oakland Press and with the Dick DeVos campaign while also keeping the job at my mom's company once a week.
So that'll be fun...
Other than that...everything is going REALLY well. I am really, truly happy for the first time in a long time. I think I am coming to terms with a lot of stuff in my life and really letting go of things that have been bogging me down both emotionally and physically. Some issues that I have had in the past are getting worked out and some friends of the past are out of sight and out of mind for good, which is good for me. I have made the decision to let some toxic people go.
I know this sounds cheesy, but the Natasha Bedingfield song "Unwritten" has really hit home with me. First of all, I don't really like her at all and her music kind of annoys me, but the lyrics of this song have really helped me this week.
Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten
I realized that I'm not stopping to feel the rain or to really feel anything at all. I'm just going and going and going. If I'm not busy with an appointment or work or a meeting or something, my mind is racing and already onto the next thing. I have decided that I REALLY need to start living in the moment and not worrying about tomorrow or the next day or next month or next year, which is what I have been doing a LOT of. As Natasha says today is where my book begins -- so I'm going to try to start living that way.
Sorry for the kind boring and cheesy post. I know these post's kinda suck...but I really needed to get some stuff off my chest. Thanks to those who stuck it out! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

Oh my god. I just took this little quizzie thing. I don't normally like to take these things, but I decided to anyway. After only two questions, they gave me my results, and - HOLY CRAP- it is so true it's scary. I think that if some people, *cough cough,* would read the frist section of it, they would have a lot better of a chance being my friend/staying my friend.

| Today has been a rough day. I made the decision to move back to my mom's which means I must give my dog up for adoption.
If anyone knows anyone looking for a dog, please let me know. She is a 1 year 5 month-old Jack Russell Terrier. She is ABSOLUTLEY adorable and soooo well-behaved. She is free to a good home, and I will also give the new owner all of her belongings as well (cage, bed, dishes, clothes, etc.). I am looking for someone with a family who also has another dog. She loves companionship, so the new owners having another dog would be great. She is also AMAZING with kids. I'm giving her up because I am not home enough for her and can't give her the attention that she deserves. Please let me know if you are interested or know anyone who is. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |

| The Year In Review:
Copy and paste the first two sentences of the first REAL entry (no quizzes or memes) of every month in 2005
January:
I am HOME!! YAY!! I haven't updated in a WHILE, but I'm sure ya'll can expect that. I moved home on the 21st, had the holidays! YAY! I got a puppy, a laptop, a new cell phone (number (248) 842-2177), among other things. Santa was indeed good to me. So I just got the internet here hooked up today, so I'm happy. I heat the internet.
So....to the bulk of my story. I am confused. I have been having semi-good luck with the men here lately. I don't know why God does this, but it seems like every time I meet a guy, I meet 12 of them, and then 2 months later, I go through a drought where I don't meet ANYONE! It sucks. I think this is the general way it goes with most people, but still...I hate it.
February:
I haven't updated in a really long time. Everything is going really well. I really like it here. I love my classes (well, most of them) and I'm feeling a lot more comfortable here than I ever did at northern. I know it's probably to be expected that I feel more comfortable at home than in a distant city, but even on campus I am much more confident, more relaxed, and happier. I had to go to the doctor today because of a crazy-ass cold I've had for a long time. He gave me army-strength cough syrup with massive amounts of codeine in it to help me sleep at night.
March:
HOORAY!! Everything is all set for Chicago. It was touch and go there for a while between parking and money and yada yada yada. But everything is set now. I have 2 midterms tomorrow and then I'm going home to sleep and then GOING TO CHICAGO FRIDAY MORNING!!! YAY!! I am so friggin excited!
April:
So today was a crazy as hell day. I was on my work today when I started having problems with my transmission. So I go into work and ask my mom if it's normal for my transmission to be doing this. She said no, and I said "dammit. I hate how my truck is falling apart. I'm going to have to spend so much money to get everything fixed." All of a sudden my mom says "you know, we could always go to Skalnek and see what they'll give you to trade your truck in for a new car." I said "yeah, that'd be cool." She said "get your work done quickly, we'll go soon." So we got out work done and headed out to the dealership. We got there, made some good deals and got me a new car. It's a 2005 Ford Focus. I really like it. I didn't think I would like a Focus because it's just a little car and I didn't think I'd like a little car. But I really like how it sits up higher and how it rides...annnnnnd...it's SO FUCKIN' CUTE!!!! I love it.
Now I just have to come up with a name for my new baby. Any suggestions? It's a really pretty blue color if that helps you at all. Let me know what you come up with...
Other craziness ensued today as well. 3 minor catastrophes in all. All relatively taken care of....
May:
I went up to Central yesterday to see the ever-lovely Alex, and to see the Gavin DeGraw concert. It was amazing. I <3 Gavin. He is my favorite thing EVER! It was a good time. Alex got called a skank-ho and a prostitute both in one day; I got bear-hugged by a crazy drunk male cheerleader; I showed up all the crazy high-schoolers who thought that they loved Gavin more when I knew the songs that he never released and they DIDN'T and the hootchie with the I <3 Gavin bag gave me a snottie bitch look! It was a great time. Gavin is fucking hot, a genious, and hilarious.
June:
So, I'm sorry that I haven't updated in a while. I've been crazy busy.
I started my internship at Click On Detroit.com. I absolutely adore it. If you go there, you probably won't recognize any of my work, but I assure you that at least 1 of the articles on the front page, at least 7 on the business page, and at least 2 on the health page are mine. If anyone wants to know which ones they are, just let me know and I can send you the links or email them to you.
At any rate, after patting myself furiously on the back with the previous paragraph, I love it. Everyone there is amazing. The click on staffers are courteous, smart, funny, and they treat me like part of the team, so I like it there.
July:
NO JULY POSTS!!!
August:
I would never imagine that paying bills would give me a high. But yes, today, I payed bills. And not just some of them. OH NO!! I payed all of them....WITH ONE PAYCHECK!!! I don't have another bill to worry about until next MONTH!! That's such a rarity for me. Usually I pay one or two bills a week. Strangly enough, getting all of my bills taken care of with one paycheck lifted a huge weight off of my shoulder and I have a little high! I feel so unstressed for today.
P.S. I love chicken salad sandwiches!! P.P.S. If anyone wants to go see the Skeleton Key or Four Brothers with me (on tuesday and thursday respectivly) let me know, I have screening tickets.
September:
My weekend started off with a bang!
Kathy and I went bar hopping in Royal Oak Friday night. Got to hear some amazing Blues and drink a lot. It was great! Kathy: 1st of all, Bambi doesn't wear beige!
Saturday got my hair cut and colored. She took almost 8 inches off! It's so cute though, I love it. After my hair appt. I helped my parents move more stuff around in the new office. We went to dinner at Montana's, which is always fun, then I came home and CRASHED...HARD.
October:
Haha. I'm a loser. I decided to stay in tonight and relax. I started watchng "The Rookie" on ABC Family. But the end of it, I was sobbing like a little kid. The next time I went into the bathroom I noticed had mascara running down my cheeks. I feel like such a dork -- It's 8:00 Saturday night, I'm hanging out at home with my dogs, just got done watching a kids show to which I sobbed. Yeah, I'm a cool cat!
November:
I dedicate this song....to liquor....
I've had the time of my life No I never felt like this before Yes I swear it's the truth And I owe it all to you
With my body and soul I want you more than you'll ever know So we'll just let it go Don't be afraid to lose control Yes I know what's on your mind When you say, "Stay with me tonight" Just remember
You're the one thing I can't get enough of So I'll tell you something This could be love because
I've had the time of my life No I never felt like this before Yes I swear it's the truth And I owe it all to you\
December:

| | Hey!! I don't feel like typing two separate entries for each of my blogs (i.e. Live Journal), so here is the most recent entry from my blog. Check it out sometime: The World According to Kelly. P.S. Thanks to Kathy for help creating it!! :-D
Hey all! I love the title of this entry. It means I'm finally posting, and I have some news about The Post. The Post, for those of you who don't know, is the student newspaper at Oakland University, where I attend school. I am (now) the Assistant Managing Editor!! I couldn't be more exicted about this title. It means that I get to do more administrative stuff, like running the writers meetings, while still being the editor of a section.
My section is "Your Life." A couple weeks ago we went through budget cuts at The Post. Before the cuts, there was the Life section, Money/Health, and Environment. I had been the Assistant Money/Health Editor before and I was, then, the Environment Editor. After the cuts, they (the editor in cheif and managing editor) decided to combine all of these sections, which had previously taken up 4 broadsheet pages, into one section, which is now 1 broadsheet page. They call it "Your Life" and I get to be in charge of it. I hate that some of my friends were not needed at the paper (read: fired), I really am. I wish that things weren't that way, but I'm very happy with the paper now. I think that the right people are editing the right things (and I'm not just talking about myself)and I think the paper will succeed. I really like the "Your Life" section too. I was really worried about it at first, because I'm not traditionally a features writer, but I really like it. I get to be creative with stories, design, layout, etc.
I can't wait for the upcoming issues. There are going to be such topics as : The perfect holiday party playlist (where we interview over 100 students to find their favorite holiday songs), OU's fabulous 40 of 2005 (where we talk to OU students to find what they bought/what they became acclimated with in 2005 that they now can't live without), our stress special (about how to destress before finals), and much much more.
I love journalism! I can't believe that I finally found my niche and I love it so much. I never thought I would be so happy with a field of study/career. I always thought I would be that person who just went to work and came home and then had their life. But I think my job is becomming my life. I would rather be writing/at the Post than at my other job or, sometime, anywhere else. I'm so happy. I fell like I'm truly living now and I have a purpose in life!!
Sorry this was so random and tangent-like. That's just my life though; so many things going through my mind all at once!! | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| This is so unbelievably true:| How You Life Your Life | You seem to be straight forward, but you keep a lot inside. You're laid back and chill, but sometimes you care too much about what others think. You tend to have one best friend you hang with, as opposed to many aquaintences.
